Paris Roubaix
Friday 6th April – Monday 9th April 2012
The Paris
Roubaix event is one of the oldest in the road cycling calendar - first run in
1896. The race has been contested every year since 1896, stopped only by the two
World Wars and is now one of the most popular of the Spring Classics.
There are
usually around 30 cobbled sections included in the race, three of them
considered to be of maximum difficulty.
As well as the infamous Trouée
d\'Arenberg, other difficult sections
include the 3 km Mons-en-Pevele and the
2100 metre Le Carrefour de l\'Arbre (usually the final and often decisive section in the final
kilometres of the race - the two city sections more paving than the real
thing).
